The Health section article in the Los Angeles Times reports that Carl Phillips, former associate professor of public health at the University of Alberta, says that experts and policymakers who criticize electronic cigarettes are missing a great chance to improve public health. “If users are engaging in something that feels the same as smoking but doesn’t involve any smoke, that great.” He further states that he’s confident that e-cigarettes are at least 95% safer than actual cigarettes.
